Some people complain that Runescape has gotten too addictive. Has it? It's not just a game anymore? I think it's not very addictive. I'm living proof of it. I got banned from Runescape in July 2005 for no reason. In fact, I had quit temporarily 6 months before I got banned, so I don't even know why I was banned. Whatever the case, I had other characters. But I chose not to play. I just got tired of it, that's all. I realized that it's just a game. In fact, I knew it all along, I just kept playing because I actually wanted to. Not because anybody was forcing me or because I was an 'addict'.
Skills were never my reason to keep playing Runescape. Sure, it was nice to look at them and say, "I accomplished this" but, if you own several party hats and loads of gp that's sitting in the bank, what more can you really want? All quests done and all items acquired... what is left? Skills? Pfft, I don't care about getting 99/99. I'd be able to smith rune kites, whoopti doo. I can buy a 100 of them and not even think about it. I hear this all the time: games are addictive because they force you to set goals and keep going at them (the carrot and the donkey analogy). I didn't have the carrot, I played it just to kill time! For mere entertainment. I also hear this: MMORPGs are addictive because of the community and friends you meet ingame. Well, all my friends are already on MSN and RSC and most of them I'm not close with anyways (they are old shadows of friends, in a way).
In conclusion, I don't think Runescape is addictive. People make it addictive for themselves. It's easy to just put it down, unlike a cigarette. There's tons of other games out there like WoW or Guild Wars; (are those addictive? meh, another day, another blog entry)

Runescape Too Addictive?

Quest Guides and all other guides on Runescape Help are more descriptive
All guides on Runescape Help have had their URL addresses updated to make them more descriptive.
For example, if you come across this link:
http://www.zybez.net/quests.php?id=82&runescape_deserttreasure.htm
... you can easily tell that it's a Runescape quest guide for the 'desert treasure' quest. Before this update, our old links looked like this:
http://www.zybez.net/quests.php?id=82
... sure, they were shorter, but they don't tell you much. Quest 82? What's Quest 82?
A note: yes, old links will work as well if you have stuff bookmarked. Don't worry.

Ventrilo Server on the way for Warcraft Community
Yes, the rumors are true: World of Warcraft Community is getting their very own Ventrilo server. There will be a max of 50 slots- so plenty of space for even moderately large groups of gamers. This ventrilo server will be hosted on a non-Zybez website: at a proper Ventrilo hosting facility. This means there won't be any downtime for the Vent server when the main site or forums are down (pfft, if ever!)
There's also talks of perhaps using the same vent server for Runescape Tiko and the Guild Wars Community. No final conclusion yet... it's still discussion on the ... discussion table.
The timeframe for this to take affect is only a matter of a couple days.

Runescape Achivements
I've been reading the achievements section on Runescape Community and I gotta say that I'm very impressed. Lots of people are giving their stats and goals information illustrated with nice pictures and even videos. It's great because people can have a sort of 'blog' of their Runescape life (their goals and skill stats) while people can post comments and stuff below.
Anyways, I won't write much, but I'll say that if you're looking to show your Runescape life to the rest of the world, make your own Runescape Community achivements topic.

Deal or No Deal Game
I played Deal or No Deal game today, and it was a lot of fun. You pick a briefcase and then you eliminate other briefcases... the whole time you have no idea what's in your briefcase. Once you've eliminated enough, the banker calls and makes you an offer. If you take the offer, then and only then your case is revealed!
You should check it out at http://www.ipengo.com/dealornodeal.html
Absolutely fun online flash game - free of course.

Runescape Stats History - Check yours!
The HiScores on Runescape.com tell you what your stats are. BUT have you wanted to know what your stats were last week? last month? last year? Zybez just came out with this awesome new service called "HiScore History". It lets you grab your stats into Zybez's database... and then keep them updated over a period of time... you can update daily for example. And then, you can see your progress over weeks on which skills you advanced and so on!
Check it out right now on Zybez Runescape Help!
