Mechscape Game - A new game from Jagex

Jagex Ltd. is known for making mainly Runescape. But now, there are rumors of a new game called Mechscape.

We think this game is going to be Sci-Fi based judging by its name. Definitely a MMORPG because that's what made Runescape so popular.

We're not sure about the details at all, but we'll keep our eyes open for any new news on Mechscape.

Halloween 2007 in Runescape

Halloween is here and there is a GRIMNESS in the air. Here's a picture of the new holiday item, the Grim Reaper Hood. Spooky? In other news, Runescape Community now allows for FileFront video embeds. So, using the [filefront]402741[/filefront] tag spits out a video right on the page. This is good news because YouTube has limitations that FileFront makes up for. And FileFront videos have become more popular with the PK Video crowd.

Ventrilo

Zybez.net now is the first Runescape fan site (yes, another 'first' on the list) to offer free public VENTRILO (voice chat) service. (Runescape Ventrilo)

This should forge closer ties between clan members, and even just casual friends (visitors of Zybez.net). Vent is wildly popular in WoW and Guild Wars and etc, so let's see how it goes with Runescape.

Runescape Help in Merchanting

I see people everyday asking about HOW to make money in Runescape. I've made a blog post before about it actually. Maybe I wasn't clear.

For those that still don't get it, here's a word of advice. Always, and I mean, ALWAYS research using the Runescape Market Price guide and the Questions forum on RSC before trading. Do you want to make gold? Yeah? Then, make sure you DONT get ripped off. Runescape players are getting smarter thesedays, they all know the prices and they act dumb, pretending not to know anything. Once they lure you into giving discounts (often quoting some friend who bought it for less), they convince you to sell for a lot less than the going market price, and in the end, after you 'accept', it's too late. The gold (gp) you did not make, is the gold you could have had. Not any more though, it's gone. Bye bye. No more. Gold is gone. Can't get it. Sad, isn't it?

But don't worry, you're lucky. There are many awesome tools available to you. Within seconds, you can pull up the market prices off Zybez.net's Market Price Guide- and it tells you the high and low average price, so you don't even have to use your brain. In fact, you can punch in the number of items you're trading, and right away, it'll do the calculation for you. Feel free to pop in the 'k' or 'm' for thousand or million. So, if you're buying 1k cosmic runes, just put '1k' on the box on the right for quantity, and instantly, you KNOW the price: 175,000 gp. DONE, no need to ask friends or run around - or worse: GUESS.

Everything is on your side... if you wanna know more about an item, just click the little blue arrow (see pic above) and you'll be taken to a nice info page that shows you every detail about that particular item. Sexy? Yes it is.

Ok, enough Runescape tips for now. If you need any more help, 1000s of experts are waiting to answer your questions. Good luck, and remember to have fun!

The New Edgeville - Cutting Edgeville

Yes!!! Now, Edgeville looks like it's made out of steel plates rather than bricks. Some people seem really excited about this, but as for me, I was happy with how it looked before.

Here's a video on YouTube uploaded by VUnit. It shows him running around the newly designed area: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NyG9p5ztmOg

Runescape Too Addictive?

Some people complain that Runescape has gotten too addictive. Has it? It's not just a game anymore? I think it's not very addictive. I'm living proof of it. I got banned from Runescape in July 2005 for no reason. In fact, I had quit temporarily 6 months before I got banned, so I don't even know why I was banned. Whatever the case, I had other characters. But I chose not to play. I just got tired of it, that's all. I realized that it's just a game. In fact, I knew it all along, I just kept playing because I actually wanted to. Not because anybody was forcing me or because I was an 'addict'.

Skills were never my reason to keep playing Runescape. Sure, it was nice to look at them and say, "I accomplished this" but, if you own several party hats and loads of gp that's sitting in the bank, what more can you really want? All quests done and all items acquired... what is left? Skills? Pfft, I don't care about getting 99/99. I'd be able to smith rune kites, whoopti doo. I can buy a 100 of them and not even think about it. I hear this all the time: games are addictive because they force you to set goals and keep going at them (the carrot and the donkey analogy). I didn't have the carrot, I played it just to kill time! For mere entertainment. I also hear this: MMORPGs are addictive because of the community and friends you meet ingame. Well, all my friends are already on MSN and RSC and most of them I'm not close with anyways (they are old shadows of friends, in a way).

In conclusion, I don't think Runescape is addictive. People make it addictive for themselves. It's easy to just put it down, unlike a cigarette. There's tons of other games out there like WoW or Guild Wars; (are those addictive? meh, another day, another blog entry)

Quest Guides and all other guides on Runescape Help are more descriptive

All guides on Runescape Help have had their URL addresses updated to make them more descriptive.

For example, if you come across this link:

http://www.zybez.net/quests.php?id=82&runescape_deserttreasure.htm

... you can easily tell that it's a Runescape quest guide for the 'desert treasure' quest. Before this update, our old links looked like this:

http://www.zybez.net/quests.php?id=82

... sure, they were shorter, but they don't tell you much. Quest 82? What's Quest 82?

A note: yes, old links will work as well if you have stuff bookmarked. Don't worry.

Ventrilo Server on the way for Warcraft Community

Yes, the rumors are true: World of Warcraft Community is getting their very own Ventrilo server. There will be a max of 50 slots- so plenty of space for even moderately large groups of gamers. This ventrilo server will be hosted on a non-Zybez website: at a proper Ventrilo hosting facility. This means there won't be any downtime for the Vent server when the main site or forums are down (pfft, if ever!)

There's also talks of perhaps using the same vent server for Runescape Tiko and the Guild Wars Community. No final conclusion yet... it's still discussion on the ... discussion table.

The timeframe for this to take affect is only a matter of a couple days.

Runescape Achivements

I've been reading the achievements section on Runescape Community and I gotta say that I'm very impressed. Lots of people are giving their stats and goals information illustrated with nice pictures and even videos. It's great because people can have a sort of 'blog' of their Runescape life (their goals and skill stats) while people can post comments and stuff below.

Anyways, I won't write much, but I'll say that if you're looking to show your Runescape life to the rest of the world, make your own Runescape Community achivements topic.

Many people still don't know what Runescape Tiko is. If you don't, then let me tell you:

As I type this, there are 371 people playing Runescape using Tiko.

WHAT IS TIKO?
It's a web-based toolkit. You play Runescape and side-by-side, you have lots of tools at your fingertips. No need to flip around with your web-browser. This means, less stress for you, and you play like a pro!

WHAT FEATURES DOES TIKO HAVE?
- Skill Calculators, Hiscore Lookup, IRC Client, Price Guide, Item Database, Quest and Skill Guides, Screen Capture, Notepad, Timers & Counters, Browser, Custom Links

WHAT DOES TIKO LOOK LIKE?

IS TIKO SAFE?
Tiko is completely 100% online. No downloads required. This means: zero risk for you. You can login to Tiko from anywhere in the world, any computer! This compliments Runescape - because Runescape is a game that requires no downloads and you can login to your Runescape from anywhere in the world- then we thought: the best thing to do is make a toolkit that's just like Runescape, completely online that you can login to from anywhere in the world. No downloads required!

IS TIKO AGAINST RUNESCAPE RULES?
Tiko follows all Runescape rules. In fact, Tiko is technically just a website made to look like a toolkit - so it's extremely safe and in accordance with the rules. There is no way you can get any virus, keyloggers, or anything else from Tiko.

I WANT TO START PLAYING RUNESCAPE ON TIKO, WHERE DO I GO?
